Pretty Peonies | via MyOtherMoreExcitingSelf.comIt’s peony’s time in the garden right now. After the lilacs reach their prime, it seems the peonies come to life and take over the scents and smells in the air.

Such lush, pretty flowers! I have three peonies, two in varying degrees of pink and the other white with a yellow center. My brightest pink peonies are plants that came from my family’s farm. My mom took a cutting of the peony planted by my Great-Grandpa Dave, waited until it rooted out, and then transferred it to me so I could plant it. That was many years ago and now I get to enjoy Great-Grandpa Dave’s peonies every spring. I love that!

Peonies are certainly amongst my favorite flowers … I’m pretty old-fashioned when it comes to that list. I love hydrangeas, lilacs, and daisies, as well. All look especially lovely in a vintage milk glass vase as shown below. 🙂

What are some of your favorite flowers?

  1. Peonies are soooo pretty…and they smell oh so good too! Mine are almost over. Wish they lasted longer! I’d have a hard time pinning down a favorite, but the smell of peonies is hard to beat.

  2. my white peonies are fine, but the pink ones are being weird. they have a washed-out coloring to them this year, and they already look wilty when they open. last year, they were great, their best year in the nine that i’ve had this house. the peonies came with the house. the first two or three years i lived here, i had very few pink or white blooms, but they had steadily increased until this year. guess they need more TLC – they did get better care last spring than this spring, lol. –suz in ohio

    • Hmmm – interesting! I wonder if they reach a point where they need extra care to bring back some of those blooms? I will need to research this a bit! Thanks for sharing!
