This week’s Turkey Tuesday recipe post is Hashbrown Turkey Ham Quiche – one of my family’s favorites.

This all ties into my one of my blogging goals for 2015, which is to more regularly blog great recipes that use turkey.

There is an excellent variety of turkey products available now in most supermarkets, so I use turkey every week in many forms and fashions. And while I will always love a good, old-fashioned roast turkey, this is not the only way to incorporate more turkey into your everyday meals.

Take this week’s recipe – Hashbrown Turkey Ham Quiche. The flavors are incredible! I love the combination of the pepper jack and Swiss cheeses in this. And it couldn’t be easier to throw to together for a weekend breakfast/brunch – or even a weeknight meal. (I love breakfast for supper. Anyone else like that?)

This recipe comes from my Mom. I’m not sure where she got it originally, although chances are good she modified it to suit her tastes. She is an excellent cook and showed me around the kitchen at an early age.  (A little trivia about me: even back then, I always preferred baking over cooking entrees and the cookbooks I saved from my childhood are all pretty much about cookies and cakes.)

But back to the quiche recipe … I also had a hotel serve this for a crowd at a Minnesota Turkey summer conference a few years back and it was a big hit.

Note: if you aren’t finding the turkey products you’d like to see in your supermarket, be sure to be persistent and make your requests to the meat manager.

Enjoy and I’ll see you back here for more Turkey Tuesday recipes in 2015!

Hashbrown Turkey Ham Quiche

  • 3-4 cups refrigerated hash brown potatoes
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) Pepper Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup (4 ox.) Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup fully cooked turkey ham, diced – I use JENNIE-O® Turkey Ham
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt

Grease a 9-inch glass pie plate with 2 teaspoons of the melted butter.

Press hash browns onto the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate. Drizzle with remaining butter.

Bake, uncovered, at 425 degrees F. for 20-25 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

Combine cheese and ham in a mixing bowl; spoon into the crust.

Beat eggs, half and half, and seasoned salt; pour over the ham.

Reduce heat to 350 degrees F. Bake, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Makes 6-8 servings.
